Trains

I was sitting
bare kneed
by the tracks
So many trains
had passed
Dining cars
bulging
with revelers
Glasses clinking
with happy returns

I was sitting
my face buried
in a book
Listening
to every word
So many trains
had passed

I was lying
in bed
lost
in the sound
of rain

Listening
for the train
Tunneling
to unknown
regions

And I wonder
Will I ride
this time?

I was struck also by the picture of the woman reading by the tracks. You captured this so well.

Love your reflecting upon the young lady sitting on the track with a book. lovely protrayal

Also love your pictoral prompts, especially G. Okeefe's 'Sky'.

There is a story behind this. Very intriguing.

I like the move from a literal to more figurative train ride.

You gave the young woman a voice. Love how you worded her reflections. Fantastic piece!!

A bit of a wall flower waiting to bloom! This is really beautiful.
