Dropped
This week, I did not have one single impression, but rather a splintering of images and emotions, which is, I guess suitable for the word dropped. I chose my favorites.
I thought about the word dropped and there were a thousand humming things.
Dropped
I dropped my guard
and birds
flew out of my heart
Yes
I dropped everything
and came right over
as soon as you called
let’s open a bottle of wine
whatever you like
we’ll celebrate
everything!
Stenosis
Drop it
he said
but she couldn’t
Unnoticed
The moon
heavy
in its socket
dropped
unnoticed
behind the sloped rooftops
suddenly
everthing
was silent
Rain
The moon
dropped
like a penny
he leaned in
I felt moist
it was familiar
as rain.
Latitudes
I am a high wire walker
in slippers
the hum of the hive
surrounds me
I am a high wire walker
with nothing on my mind
time is a thief
and meadows rise
I am a high wire walker
without a balancing stick
latitudes shift
treetops brim with song
I am a high wire walker
who has forgotten her name
You invite me to your summer home
time returns what it took.
Hail
I remember
the air heavy
it had been saving
all its arguments
the sky groaned
and words dropped
like hail
Dropped
To be fair
I don’t know who
dropped who.
I only remember
the times you
went away

I like these and most especially "Yes"!
Wonderful as always. The last three were my favorites. I have to get myself back to doing OSI.
I am not going to pick and choose which i like more than any other because it would be a dis-service to all of them. Be it sufficient to say that I LOVE short line poetry and these are all short line poems.
These are all lovely. You examined quite a range of emotions in a short space: joy, sadness, elation, anger...beautiful!
I like "Hail". It reminded me of Florida.
Well you didn't drop the ball, that was good!
I am warmed by the peace these works lay on my heavy heart. Magnicifient.
It is nice to revisit these.
.. soft and artistic ..
( a rejoinder to ur cmnt on my post - " could anyone imagine that cell phones are tainted with the blood of 3.2 million deaths " / from the web )
Sandy Carlson – Thank you for stopping by. I like Yes too.
Raven – Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed them. You are missed at OSI.
The walking man – I am honored. I have learned so much from you.
Christopher – Thank you for your comments. Your antennae twitch with the gentlest vibrations.
Natalie – It does have a tropical feel. Though I prefer a good soaking to hail.
an average patriot – I had many balls in the air this week and tried not to drop any of them. It’s good to hear from you again.
Luther James Spells – Thank you so much for such a heartfelt response to the poems. I’m always surprised when something I write touches another so personally.
Sandy Carlson – It brings great joy to know you stopped by again.
zoya gautim – Thanks for stopping by. In Cold Blood was a powerful evocation of the horrors of Bhopal and the seeds that such atrocity bear. It is the innocents and the unborn who continue to pay for unbridled greed.
