Morovian Pink

Boa Constrictor
by Shel Silverstein

Oh, I'm being eaten
By a boa constrictor,
A boa constrictor
A boa constrictor

Damson Plum

You know her as
Moravian pink
Damson plum
She
Who takes your breath
Away

Plug your ears
Annul the contract
Do the deed
This is no time
For nostalgia
Either way
The heart is endangered.

written for real toads - 35 words or less...

Moravian pink

Take courage!
Cut the cord
Use whatever you have
Scissors, scythe, blade, teeth
Just cut it
Now

There will be no blood
She who calls herself
mother
Is hazard
Siren,
Red tailed imperator

You know her as
Moravian pink
Damson plum
She
Who takes your breath
Away

Plug your ears
Annul the contract
Do the deed
This is no time
For nostalgia
Either way
The heart is endangered.

i guess this is the one for poetry jam?

nice setting the tone in the first one...def a mommy dearest feel it...and the need to escape and cut that cord...ha...i know a few...smiles...def an enchanting feel to it as well...esp with the names Moravian pink...

intriguing too that you start with shel...love his work...and oddly while his are usually playful, it works here.

I love the 3 bits together--the boa constrictor, Moravian pink and damson plumb because "She who calls herself
mother" Is like a boa constrictor the narrator has to escape, and then "She
Who takes your breath Away" has been picked away---as if the person never did escape. Lots of neat symbolic ways to read this smothering!

Clever, how you've mixed it all together. Very powerful in the moment of realization in 'either way'...no time for the thoughts that helped you dream once, the rest is lost, and without blood you must cut it apart. Very visceral, Gabrielle.

Thanks for visiting me, nice to meet you!

I enjoyed these poems so much. Favourite lines were
"she who takes your breath away" and "there will be no blood" - Is there ever no blood?
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Great stuff here, Gabrielle. The need to be decisive--at some considerable expense--is the difference between living and something else.

Suffocation by something sweet and pink on the outside..sticky and messy on the inside..the more you played with the themes..colours..and images..in each piece..made that snake squeeze harder and harder..jae
