A Georgia O'Keeffe sky

It was a Georgia O’Keeffe
sky
The night air
twitched with exhaust
And uptown holler

Caught in a
grainy Steiglitz world
Tensile steel and bitumen,
f stop and aperture

A street lamp
blinks below
the day's brass and blare
fade away

Only the urgent tug
of moon
A large swell
drawing me closer

It was a Georgia OKeeffe
sky
The liquid quiver of her brush
I fall into the sky
trembling.

Nothing much nicer than an evening in Uptown .. and a full moon. I enjoyed your poem.

This is a gorgeous evocation of place, and how it feels to be a part of it on a wholistic level. Excellent poetry.

My favorite is the first stanza, but the whole poem paints a scene with well chosen words.

Swirl of a city night, full of complex layered elements--sounds, smells, tastes and of course, feelings. Really well done piece. I saw that O'Keefe for the first time a few years back(she is one of my very favorites) and it surprised me with its air of being as comfortable with the canyons of New York as those of New Mexico.

Thank you so much for the website, can't wait to dive in. (not in the water, of course)

I love your description of the sky as Georgia O'Keeffe and the world as Steiglitz! I have a biography of her that I've read 2 or 3 times.
