Riverstones

This week's prompt is "what is it like?"

Please visit one single impression to find some wonderfully inventive interpretations.

Riverstones

a thousand tongues
weave summer
in silent verdigris
here
in the river bottom
where the soft animal sleeps
in the solitude
of ruins
you spin
the early songs
and when
you are done
with all of your
loving
you will lift her
off the wheel
lay her sweetly
down
to bake
in the high sun
waiting to be found.

this is what it feels like
when you stroke my hair
blind fingers
go to work
search
the line of cleavage
find softness
in her purpose
this is what it feels like
when you stroke my hair
trace the groove
of memory
til it is smooth
with constant strumming
beads click
the rosary advances
and time is lost
in air
sometimes you
achieve it with
just a glance.

Oh it's hot in here! Too bad my hair is kinky, because I would love this feeling! Maybe I will get a perm just to feel where this is coming from. I enjoyed the read.

Beautiful and sensuous.

Beautiful, had to read it twice as it flowed over me like a river. Indian Head Massage one of my favourite treats, but would still prefer it coming from he who shares my bed.

Oh, this is a beautiful, sensuous poem. So well done. I can only imagine that glance!

It is the thousand tongues weaving and the hands stroking that turn women into mothers...and in this I hope your day to be pleasant and well traced Gabrielle.

What wonderful images you have chosen in this poem. I love the first two lines-- they set the tone for the entire poem.

ola gabrielle--

this poem was a river to me, moving me along, caressing me, putting me out to dry, pulling me to it.

Many thanks!!

Oh wow! Isn't it fun, writing a sensous poem! (I did last week with my accrostic.) Yours gives me goose bumps. :-)

I was shocked once back when I was young. The preacher's wife was my Sunday school teacher in a new to me church. Anyway, she blurted out once, "candy's dandy, liquors quicker."
You poem says this in a very romantic and enticing way.
Thank you.

When I read this beautiful piece, I find my mind letting go of the sharp angles of reality to experience a waking, dreamlike state. A small suspension of time. It is simply beautiful. Thank you for this wonderful gift.

"time is lost in air" - one of so many images here that invoke the senses of the mind and body.

Dear one--
Back again to say thank you for visiting the Virtual Tea House and 'finishing'--if you believe in such things--the stanza of the brokeness of heart.

Thank you so much--

.. what is the difference between the reality out there and a painting _

a photograph as visible to everyone and a painting as seen by the painter _

i feel good writing has the attributes of a painting ..

this does ..
