shoes

Macy’s sales rack

I keep the shoes
on my side
of the bed
just in case
I want
to strap them on
for you

Two women
came before me
Young
and flexible

There was one pair
left in my size
I couldn't possibly wear these
I protested
Oh, you will
they said.

Yes! Yes! This poem is pure perfection, for the challenge, in what it describes, in every perfect word. Obviously, I love it!

Bless you! Capturing in spareness the emotions that a simple action conveys ...

Really excellent twist in this--and a very uncomfortable truth. Love knows how to pick our wardrobe, alright.

Love it! The sex appeal of the right shoes. :)

shoes are the sexiest thing a woman can wear, don't you think?

LOVE this!

This is so much fun! Now it makes me wish I could wear those shoes again.

I love this one. I have looked at shoes like this but never got any--I guess there was no one there to advise me!

Gabrielle, I know Shay will groove on this one! Somehow, the poem also went well with your color scheme! And I've been to those sales racks. Being a size 7, there is never anything good left!! Well done. Amy

Sometimes owning the trophy is enough.

Love this ... must confess to being a bit of a shoe hoarder in my youth ... your poem illustrates why.
